At tutor time kindergarten and primary school, social studies is one of the core subjects taught alongside others. The subject combines geography and history to provide children with a comprehensive understanding of their surroundings and cultural heritage.
Children at tutor time learn about the local environment, maps, and basic geographic concepts as well as explore Uganda’s history, cultural traditions and national values.
Social studies play a vital role in shaping students’ critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills by studying their local community, national heritage and children developing a sense of identity, citizenship and responsibility.
Teachers at tutor time use various methods to make social studies engaging and interactive by;
Integrated approach: combining multiple subjects to provide a holistic understanding of topics.
Activity-based learning: incorporating games, roleplays, and group discussions to promote children’s participation.
Teachers under this department are appreciative towards the school administration for always providing comprehensive resource books that are designed to meet the Uganda national curriculum requirements.
